Iowa Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission

Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in becoming an endorsed event or activity of the Iowa Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. The intent of this process is to promote and encourage recognition of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial in Iowa, as part of a nation-wide celebration.

Benefits of Endorsement
IALBC endorsed projects receive:

  • Mention on the IALBC website, with a link to the national Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission’s website

  • Permission to use the IALBC logo on any promotional materials

  • Letter of endorsement from the IALBC

  • Option to request presence of an IALB Commission member at the event or activity (any travel costs would be paid by the IALBC)

Funding Limitations
The IALBC does not provide funding for endorsed projects.

Endorsement Criteria

  • Event or activity must clearly show that it fully meets at least one of the Commission’s goals as indicated on the application.

  • Event or activity must be fully accessible and open to the public.

  • Event or activity must occur between January 1, 2008, and June 30, 2010.

The Process
To be eligible for endorsement review, please complete the “Application for Endorsement by the Iowa Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.” There is no deadline. Applications may be submitted by regular mail or by email to:

Your application will be reviewed by the Commission’s Endorsement Committee. You will be notified of the committee’s determination of endorsement within three weeks of receipt of your application.

Ineligible Applications
The IALBC will not endorse the following:

  • Individuals (i.e., candidates for public office)

  • For-profit ventures

  • Political or religious organizations

Responsibilities and Expectations of Endorsed Projects

  • Endorsed projects must confirm via email or regular mail their acceptance of the IALBC’s endorsement.

  • Endorsed projects will be asked to submit an evaluation report within 30 days of completion of the event or activity.

  • The IALBC reserves the right to include images, names, locations, dates, and other information about endorsed projects in its own statewide promotion of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial celebration in Iowa.
